blerrrrg.

translation: Casey is so tired she could sleep standing up, in the rain, surrounded by a herd of crying babies.

that's right.

tired.

But really my first week went great. Had a very social group of kids, which is code for kids who will not shut up. However they were enthusiastic and a ton of fun. We hiked a million miles, we swam in the freezing creek, we conquered the rock wall and the night hike even thought it was SO dark.........SO DARK.....

favorite moment...clipping small camper boy Andrew into the wall, ask "are you excited?" hear suspicious and strange noise come from Andrew, Andrew replies "so excited I just farted."

i love my job.

diving in!

today=first day being on my own as a naturalist...now i know that sounds KINDA sketchy but i swear it is not. I teach science! and it is so fun! and today was my first day with 17...that's right 17...fun and crazy kiddos. We saw a snake, we stuck bay laurel leaves up our nose, we played producer-consumer-decomposer tag, and we had class in a Redwood Cathedral. It was fun, my voice is gone, i love it.....if only there were more hours in the day to do things like paint pallets that boyfriend so kindly rescued from the side of the road or other such things...basically I had a good first day...we'll just have to see if I can keep this intense energy level up!

okay just hold on a second....

haven't written since june 09...WHAaAA?

yeah okay...i'm lame. here's to writing more?

starting...........................NOW!

So now i live in a new place. It is called "the hitch". and i love it's creaky wood floors and precarious back deck. I do not love the scratchy animal noises that happen every week or so in my wall. can i get and eek? anyways. I also have a new job. I teach 5th and 6th grade minds about the wonder of our world. It is pretty bad ass if I do say so myself. I get to go to the creek and play in the redwoods and have campfires....now you're jealous huh? speaking of new things, i also have this new boy....well he isn't technically new...and he has been mine for some time now...that's what i get for not writing since june 09....but he is also wonderful and funny and i like him quite a lot.

so that is life in sunny Santa Cruz. i promise to write more.......no really. i promise.

this week...

...was great. After months in a city that did not appeal to me in the slightest I got to go back up to Nor Cal for a couple of weeks before my summer at the Herm begins. Aside from being so excited to spend some times with my awesome family, siblings, and friends, having someone cook REAL food for me, and getting to sleep in - my awesome mother and grandma surprised me with some amazing finds! The first I found buried deep in my mom's linen closest while looking for a sewing pattern...This great, sheer blue scarf with pink embroidery and this great trim that I don't even know what to call...Anyways I am stoked on it and think it is just lovely.

The next great thing came from my Grandma and it is equally great. She found it at a books sale and for 25 cents got me the Vogue Sewing Guide and can I just say I am in love with it. Is has these great retro pictures and so much information . YEs. Love. yeS.

anyways...that is all for now...I also have a few new projects I started-finished this week that will be up soon....so until then!
